The Oculus Rift is one of the most advanced VR headsets available today, but it’s not without its flaws. There have been reports of faulty hardware and software crashes. After some research, I found out how to get Oculus refunds and keep my money in my wallet!
Oculus knows that any successful platform for delivering games must appeal to its customers. That’s why it’s now offering refunds on Oculus-exclusive applications, games, and experiences. There are a few restrictions on what you may be reimbursed, which we’ll go over here, as well as how to get a refund.
The following is taken directly from the Oculus Rift Content Refund Policy:
You may return Rift applications, games, and many other Oculus experiences for any reason as long as you submit your request within fourteen days of purchase and have spent no more than two hours with the content.
This is normal procedure; if you’ve been playing the game for six hours and then suddenly demand your money back, you’ll have a difficult time obtaining it. This is intended to allow you to quickly test a game to check whether it will run on your system or if it is exactly what the creator said it would be.
There are a few caveats on Oculus’ website about which types of material aren’t eligible for a refund. The following products are not eligible for refunds, according to the Refund Policy:
- Movies
- Any material bought as part of a package
- In-app purchases and DLC
- Outside-of-the-Oculus-platform content
- Items you’ve previously returned and then repurchased
You may always contact Oculus Customer Support to see what it can do for you if you want a refund on a product that would otherwise be rejected by the content refund mechanism.
How can I get a refund from Oculus?
If you are dissatisfied with a purchase, you may simply request a refund. You must complete the refund on the same device that you used to buy the software. Between purchasing and seeking a refund, you must not have logged out of your Oculus account.

- Open the Oculus VR app.
- In the top-right corner of the window, click the gear icon.
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
- To get started, go to Account.
- Select Purchase History from the drop-down menu.
- Then, next to the game you wish to refund, click the More option.
- Request a refund by clicking the button.
- Select Refund Reason from the dropdown menu.
- Choose a reason.
- If you think it’s essential, provide more comments.
- Continue by pressing the Enter key.
- Enter your Oculus PIN here.
- Submit the form.
You won’t be able to use the product you’re trying to return while your refund is being processed – it may take up to five days, but it shouldn’t take more than 72 hours.
