How to Deal with Samsung Gear VR Crashing

Samsung’s Gear VR app store has been a great source for many VR experiences recently, but when a VR app crashes, it doesn’t work as you expected. You’ve reached the end of your tolerance, and you’re ready to throw your Gear VR, the phone, or both off a cliff. But first, what are the most common causes of Gear VR crashing, and how do you fix them?

Samsung Gear VR is an amazing piece of technology but it can sometimes crash when you are trying to use it. This guide will teach you how to fix this problem and how to prevent it from happening again.

We’ve all had our fair share of Samsung Gear VR crashes, and no, we’re not talking about the phone. The problem is the software—the app that runs on your Samsung Gear VR headset. It’s called Gear VR Controller and it’s a piece of software that is very difficult to troubleshoot. This is due to the fact that the app is a piece of software that runs on your phone, and the app crashes without any warning or reason.

Before contacting customer support, try a few things on your own if your Samsung Gear VR is crashing.

The Gear VR is a fantastic way to get started with virtual reality at a cheap cost. However, just like any other piece of technology, it may malfunction and crash. While this is an inconvenient situation, there are a few things you may do before calling customer service.

If your Gear VR is crashing, here’s what you should do.

Remove the phone and replace it.

This is the simplest approach, yet it solves the problem much more often than you would expect. If your Gear VR is stalling or crashing, remove your phone from the headset, wait a few seconds for your phone to return to phone mode, and then try using it again. If your phone seems warm in your hand when you remove it, let it a few minutes to cool off before returning to VR.

Force the Oculus Home app to close.

The Oculus Home app will then be forced to close. This effectively restarts the program by stopping it from operating and then allowing you to start it again.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu.
  2. Apps may be found by searching.
  3. Apps with the four orange circle icons should be selected.
  4. Select the App Manager option.
  5. Select Oculus Home from the drop-down menu.
  6. Force a halt.
  7. On the warning prompt, choose force stop.

This is an excellent method to deal with app crashes in general, and it may help you with your Gear VR problems.

Clear the cache in Oculus Home.

Another option is to delete the Oculus Home cache. Some of the data you’ve input for your Gear VR will be deleted, but you may re-enter it later. The procedure is quite similar to forcing the app to close.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu.
  2. Apps may be found by searching.
  3. Apps with the four orange circle icons should be selected.
  4. Choose App Manager.
  5. Select Oculus Home from the drop-down menu.
  6. Choose a storage option.
  7. Clear cache is the option to choose.

Uninstall the Oculus software and connect your phone.

If none of these options work, you may essentially start again by uninstalling the Oculus applications from your phone and connecting it back into the Gear VR. This will allow you to re-set up your Gear VR.

Depending on your launcher, there are a few different ways to uninstall applications. Hold down the app icon in certain launchers until you get an option to remove the app. Alternatively, you may use the instructions below.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu.
  2. Apps may be found by searching.
  3. Apps with the four orange circle icons should be selected.
  4. Choose App Manager.
  5. Select the app you wish to remove by scrolling down and selecting it.
  6. Uninstall is the option.

After that, you’ll be able to re-set up your Gear VR. If you need a refresher, here’s our guide.

Please contact our customer service department.
